In our opinion, mixtapes are his expertise, especially because every time we’re listening to one, we have to cage our inner pop princess. Better still, download the mixtape for free and coast your way over the mid-week hill.Since we’d met for the interview before we had the tracklist, we wanted to know more about the songs, but we also spoke about pop music, performing in Ibiza and the big success itself.YNTHT: Hi Marco. Where are you right now?Tensnake: I’m at the studio in Hamburg right now. From tomorrow on, I’ll be on holiday and I need to get some stuff done before that.Where are you going?It’s not very interesting. Sunday I’ll have a show on Ibiza and I am going to stay there for two weeks. It’s for practical reasons and more importantly it's warm there.How often do you have shows in Ibiza?I’ve been eight times there this summer and this is the third year. Now, I know my spots there, but it took a while.Why?Well, it’s quite different there. Everything in Ibiza is on a bigger scale and therefore distinguishes from the rest of the world. Of course, I’ll have to react to that and play differently. Everything is just bigger, even the audience; it’s all higher, faster or further. You don’t have the time to develop your set; you have to get straight to the point.Is this an environment you enjoy when playing your music?Well, yes. It doesn’t always work and also depends on the promoters booking. If they want me to play at 5 am in morning in one of those huge clubs, it won’t work. People then expect something else. But most of the time I enjoy myself.We are expecting a mixtape from you. Can you leak some information on the tracklist?It’s a wide journey through some promotional stuff I got recently starting like many mixes, with some disco and relaxing stuff. Later on it gets more into UK Bass ending with garage. This reflects what has been going on in the past year, two step, UK garage and beat garage have all been coming back even though it was thought to be dead in 1998 or something.In my opinion, you’re facing a huge career in producing. Are you looking forward to that?What? Who is paying you to say that? (laughs). I don’t know, but I think my style of music is too sub. It’s not mainstream enough.So you don’t want to serve the masses?Sure, I don’t have a problem with it. I like pop music and I want to reach a wide range of people, but I am not into predictable music. Even though “See Right Through” is very plain and simple, but that was the aim.So are the other songs on the album are less obvious?That’s right. There is a lot of different stuff and they are more diverse. I’d say the least common denominator is some kind of a hedonistic disco approach. There’s little club music in there. I think I hoped to reach more people, compared with the stuff I used to do earlier.And when do you release the album?Ah, I don’t know, the release date has been skipped several times.
