After a wait that seemed like forever, Saatchi Art, the Saatchi Gallery and Google+ have announced the winners of their first-ever Motion Photography Competition. The premiere file format for animations, cinemagraphs, and everywhere in between, the competition offered a trip to London and an interactive gallery exhibition to the six best GIFs, culled from the categories of Landscape, Lifestyle, Action, Night, People, and Urban.

Selected by a jury that included the likes of Tracey Emin, Cindy Sherman, and Baz Lurhmann, this year’s champion, Christina Rinaldi, was crowned overall winner for her submission to the “Urban” category, New York Hustles Hard. While not included in our original overview, the sumptuous contrast and stylistic simplicity of Rinaldi’s fourth-wall collapsing GIF of a window cleaner make it the perfect candidate for first prize.

Enjoy New York Hustles Hard above, and wish Christina Rinaldi un bon voyage, as her well-earned victory has garnered her, “The trip of a lifetime with the photographer/filmmaker of her choice.”

Below, the five runner-up finalists in their respective categories:

Jukebox, Kostas Agiannitis (Lifestyle)

Karl, Matthew Clarke (Night)

Boxer, Emma Critchley (People)

Untitled, Micaël Reynaud (Action)

Untitled, Stefanie Schneider (Landscape)

Congratulations to all the contestants who submitted their GIFs to the first official Motion Photography prize, and make sure to check out Saatchi Gallery on Google+.
