Coming Soon? The Joy Division Museum

At the price of $297,573, Joy Division superfan Hadar Goldman may make all of our disorderly dreams come true.

A museum of unknown pleasures may very well soon take root in the former home of late Joy Division frontman Ian Curtis. When the patch of real estate appeared on the market back in February, superfan Zak Davies attempted to round up his fellow devotees—and $234,945—to purchase the Macclesfield house, only to cede his Indiegogo campaign to a 1% funded defeat. Thankfully, musician and businessman Hadar Goldman has stepped in to save his hero’s home from a private buyer, dishing over $400,000 total for both the potential owner's compensation fees and the 77 Baron Street address.

“Although I paid £190,000 ($297,573)—nearly double the asking price—I felt as if I had to get involved, especially after hearing the plight of the fans who had failed to raise the necessary funds to buy the house owned and lived in by one of the musical heroes of my youth,” Hadar tells the Manchester Evening News. “Joy Division left a musical legacy which has influenced many of today’s bands.”

Although official plans for the anticipated shrine to "Ceremony" have yet to be released, we're keeping our fingers crossed for something like the full-blown Peter Saville paint job depicted above. It better be disorderly.
