Powell is back on Diagonal with 'No U Turn'

Like your techno stripped down with a side-helping of funk and gristle? Powell's got you covered.

For the past couple of years, there's been a small group of young British producers who have been lurking in the space between the realms of techno and experimental, going above and beyond the now clichéd term of 'hardware jam', that often forgoes quality in the name of DIY tape hiss and fuzz. Powell is one such producer, alongside Vessel, Miles and Lee Gamble, and his new 12" Club Music crowns a return to his own Diagonal Records imprint for the first time since 2012's Body Music.

Inbetween Body Music and Club Music, Powell has remixed the likes of Silent Servant and Ike Yard and released on The Death Of Rave and Liberation Technologies, and his return to Diagonal find him in imperious form. 'No U Turn' is the second track from the 12", a stubbornly percussive, dingy techno tool that, whilst styled as club music, also bears semblance to his pummeling body music - you won't know whether to dance to it or listen intently through your headphones and absorb all of the track's minutae.
