So there seems to have been kind of a mixed reaction to the news that Tom Hardy has been cast to play the legendary musician in musical biopic Rocketman, but those upset by the news are unlikely to have seen any of his work outside of the The Dark Kight Returns. Sure, he's more famous for cutting a brawny and imposing figure, but Hardy's got versality and talent in the bag and there's no doubt this performance will be a strong contender for future awards seasons. I, for one, am looking forward to the sequins.

ZACHARY HEINZERLING ON 'CUTIE AND THE BOXER'

Having bagged Sundance’s Directing Award for his documentary Cutie and the Boxer earlier this year, NYC-based 29-year-old filmmaker Zachary Heinzerling is fast-becoming the talk of the town. His acclaimed documentary follows 81-year-old Japanese artist Ushio Shinohara and his wife Noriko as they struggle to get by in New York City, living in their art-stuffed apartment. We spoke to Zachary about his 5-year relationship with his subjects, whose own relationship has spanned 40-odd years, and why a lot of documentaries suffer from trying to do too much.

LEA SEYDOUX AND BEN WHISHAW TO STAR IN YORGOS LANTHIMOS' 'THE LOBSTER'

2009's darkly surreal and quirky Dogtooth bagged an Oscar nomination while making its director, Yorgos Lanthimos, one to watch. Which is why we're here right now looking ahead to his next surprisingly star-stuffed English-language debut.

Following the Greek director's last film Alps (which was consumed in the shadow of Dogtooth), Lanthimos will be teaming up with Léa Seydoux (Blue Is the Warmest Colour), Ben Whishaw (Bright Star), Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) and Olivia Colman (Tyrannosaur) for a love story entitled The Lobster.
