Everyone knows that, these days, you haven’t really made it as an electronic musician until you have your own custom-designed LED stage setup that’s going to blind your audience as you steadily deafen them with your killer womps. Just look at the likes of Deadmau5, Skrillex, and Squarepusher—or the originators of this trend, Daft Punk. By this benchmark for success, UK-based producer Feed Me (AKA Jon Gooch) has finally made it. Gooch teamed up with Sober Industries and Studio Rewind to create a dazzling spectacle of light and sound for his performances, using his alter ego—a monster character with a menacing smile—as the core theme.An 18-foot wide jagged row of teeth makes up Feed Me’s DJ booth, shaped like a crescent moon and curving around him when he plays on stage. The smile is flanked by screens on either side, outfitted with custom LED panels that display a color explosion of content that was custom designed for each track, hyping up the synaesthetic potential of the experience by triggering visual elements that directly correspond with specific sound triggers.Mattijs Kneppers is the man responsible for designing the custom built software that powers this monster.
