Husband to the GOAT tweeter Chrissy Teigen, musician, and all-round good egg John Legend is a nice guy. Some might say he's nice enough to play the nicest guy of all. Jesus. I'm talking about Jesus. What I'm telling you is that John Legend is going to play Jesus on television in 2018.

Legend will star in NBC's upcoming Jesus Christ Superstar adaptation, coming on—you've guessed it—Easter Sunday next year, per Variety. And to be honest, if I had to select a current celebrity to play Jesus, I would also probably choose John Legend. He's got a Christ-like air, I think you'll agree. Like, if Jesus sang, he'd probably sound like John Legend.

The other big casting news is that Jesus Christ Superstar Live! (exclamation point mandatory) is also slated to star, uh, Alice Cooper? Yeah, Alice Cooper is going to play King Herod. This news is definitive proof that, for my money, if you thought 2017 was no longer reality as we knew it (R.I.P.), 2018, which will feature John Legend and Alice Cooper depicting Biblical figures on TV, is going to be an even deeper dive into the twilight zone.
