Last year when Uffie made a guest appearance on Charli XCX's mixtape Number 1 Angel, electronic pop devotees everywhere held their breath for new solo music from the 2000s icon, but it didn't emerge. We all moved on – bleary-eyed at the thought of what genius we might have received unto us, but bleary-eyed all the same. Today however, we are vindicated. Behold: Uffie has returned, properly, with a brand new single, "Drugs," which you can hear below."Drugs" is pretty and upbeat, and it shows a matured side to Uffie's songwriting (understandably – her last track came in 2011). She's shed the brattiness that used to trademark her work, and instead embraces sincerity; her voice punctuates tinkling synths, and the whole thing has a sparkling quality. Most of all however, it signals a massively welcome return onto pop's landscape: let's hope that Uffie brings more new music sooner rather than later.Follow Noisey on Twitter.
