Las Vegas Massacre Witnesses Describe Carnage, Terror, and Chaos

Witnesses recounted a night of absolute terror when a gunman open fired on the crowd of people attending an outdoor country concert in Las Vegas Sunday.

The 22,000 concertgoers at the Route 91 Country festival expected a night of country music, dancing, and celebration in the nightlife capital of the world. Instead, they got trauma, massacre, and chaos.

Witnesses recounted a night of absolute terror when a gunman open fired on the crowd of people attending an outdoor country concert in Las Vegas Sunday. At least 58 people were killed and more than 515 injured, according to the most recent estimates by the Clark County Fire Department. It's believed to be the deadliest mass killing in US history. "You could see bodies laid out on the street," said Mark Jigarjian, a 31-year-old from New York City took cover in the MGM casino nearby and was still inside when he spoke to VICE News. "There were people laid out." Jigarjian, who was spending the weekend in Vegas for a bachelor party was told to hide behind a slot machine until instructed that it was safe to go outside.
