Come for the surf, stay for the surfers.

Raccoons, mooses, and panda bears aren't the most common sights on white, sandy beaches, and it's even rarer to see them don wet suits and surfboards to crush barreling waves. In the dreamy imagination of illustrator Jonas Claesson, though, the animal kingdom gets its chance to hang ten. What started as an A-Z series of surfing animals has since grown into an alternative surf world where man and beast share the waves in peace.

Even when his subjects are human, Claesson still keeps things interesting with highly stylized waves and characters. The mystery beard-man in his latest print above is a prime example, framed by one of Claesson's alluring crystal blue crests, which are the element that first drew me into his work. Come for the surf, and stay for the surfers.
