Plump DJs Still Bring The Plumpest Basslines

We've got the premiere of "U Belong 2 Us" from the UK breakbeat stalwarts.

London's Plump DJs were an essential part of the millennial wave of breakbeat music that defined the era in which many of us were drawn into dance music. They did FabricLive.08 for chrissakes, sandwiched in-between John Peel and Jacques Lu Cont – They're masters of breakbeat music made for clubs, slathered in electro tones and playful songwriting.

We've got the exclusive on "U Belong 2 Us," released on their own Grand Hotel label, and it's an electro heater that'll be effective on dancefloors small and large. The trance-y synths of the opening give way to an restrained electro beat that brings some real bassweight.

"We wanted to make an uncompromisingly large dance record, without using any cheap tricks," they tell THUMP. "We try to combine the best of traditional and modern production techniques…We worked on interesting sound design to achieve some heavy bass textures in the record."

They go on, "After performing at Glastonbury to 45,000 people last year, we have been heads down on a prolonged period of musical development and research. We have been performing regularly at one of the best underground venues in London…The Nest in Dalston and this has allowed us to spend more time in the studio working on our new material. This year we have also been collaborating with some exciting musical and visual artistes, the results of which will be released through our Grand Hotel Records imprint in 2015."
