The Microphone Ronaldo Threw into the Lake is Now Being Auctioned for Charity

The only thing that would make the story more complete would be if Ronaldo bought it himself.

It's hard to get enough of the above clip of Cristiano Ronaldo throwing a reporter's mic into the lake. Ronaldo's comedic timing is simply pristine—the blank stare, the double-take, then the launch, and a casual carrying-on. It's basically the human equivalent of the thug life cat knocking over a glass. Well, CMTV, the Portuguese news channel that suffered the mic-loss, actually sent a pair of divers to rescue the mic, and are now auctioning it off for charity, they announced today.

Ronaldo's likely in better spirits now—the 'interview' took place after Portugal disappointingly tied their first two group stage games. Now, they're in the Euros quarterfinals against Wales.

But CMTV is no stranger to Ronaldo's displeasure. Ronaldo once won a lawsuit against the news source for invasion of privacy, and has refused to answer their questions since 2014. But it's a pretty classy move to auction off the mic, set to be donated to children with disabilities—if CMTV isn't profiting off of Ronaldo coverage, they can at least raise some money from the one story that involved both parties, and give it to a good cause. The only thing that would make the story more complete would be if Ronaldo bought the thing himself.
