On Sunday Boris Johnson announced that he would be backing the Brexit campaign at the EU Referendum in June, gloriously defying his Prime Minister and long-term frenemy David Cameron. Finally after years of phoney war, the gloves were off. The long-awaited battle of the Etonians had begun.

Of course the public will now have to choose sides and vote with either the blonde Eton boy or the brunette. But who cares what the public do or think? What about the people who actually matter in this country – Old Etonians?

Watching ringside, Eton College and their alumni told us whom they think should win the political playground fight of the century.

Constantine Louloudis, 24 - Bronze medal-winner in the men's eight rowing at the 2012 Olympics.

"Boris Johnson is all fun and games until he uses his profile within this debate to make his move for the leadership of the Conservative Party by advocating a move that would be catastrophic for the UK. Cameron deserves to win because in this instance he has the country's interests at heart, and to be honest I rather suspect that as far as Boris is concerned Cameron won the battle back in 2005 when he became Tory leader against an ailing Labour Party."

Alexander Fiske-Harrison, 39 - Professional bull-runner and author of Fiesta: How To Survive The Bulls Of Pamplona

"I was in the same house as David Cameron at Eton, and studied the same subject as him at Oxford: philosophy, politics & economics. We were members of the same clubs – although years apart – and my father worked under his at Panmure Gordon in the City. "Which is why I back Boris, because the one thing those institutions teach you above loyalty to comrades is loyalty to your ambition country. I also back the man who got the First over the Upper Second class degree. (And living in Spain I have seen what the EU does when you get into trouble.)"

Ladies and gentlemen, the results are in and we have a draw. As our poll has not been able to provide concrete answers as to whether Boris or David will win the EU Battle of the Etonians, there is still all to play for on the 23rd of June. So may the best Etonian win.
