When we followed Ovenly duo Erin Patinkin and Agatha Kulaga through Brooklyn for Chef's Night Out, we got a pretty good idea of what a wild night for bakers looks like.
It starts with what they call "baker's happy hour"—at 3PM—and ends with hazelnut sour beer cake with a delicate crème anglaise and cranberry jam on top. There were also more than enough nachos, Shittens, and hard liquor in between to make it feel just like any other Chef's Night Out episode; it was just a little more daylight than we're used to.
Toward the end of the night, a bottle of Old Crow bourbon, usually designated for their blackout cake frosting, ended up being passed around the bakery. Sure, they had to buy a new bottle after sharing swigs with all of their friends, but they can also say they literally blacked out on Chef's Night Out and lived to tell the tale.
