Boys Noize Is Back with Some Real Rockin' Raw Shit
Tough, tough techno for tough, tough boys.
In the last ten years I've put on a bit of weight, grown into my face slightly, and sunk about six grand into pints of lager. The decade between fresh faced optimism and the stark reality of life in my mid-20s hasn't really amounted to much. Which leaves me both envious and impressed that Alex Ridha's celebrating the tenth anniversary of Boysnoize Records with a batch of new releases and a globe spanning series of parties. The most exciting of those new drops is Strictly Raw Vol 1 a rough and ready collection of distorted, distended hardware jams, set to shake the foundations of every decent club in every decent city worldwide over the next few months. The vinyl edition is set for release on June 2 but we've got first dibs on a digital only exclusive — the rumbling and raucous "Overstayer" which you can stream below.
"The idea of the Strictly Raw Vol 1. release is to take one drum machine and one or two synths and make a track with it," Ridha says. "Over the last few years friends came in and out of my studio and sometimes we end up jamming on my machines. Since it's #BNR10YR I wanted to collect the good ones and put them all together and there is some serious magic going on. As a DJ you always look out for this kind of timeless house or techno music and here are eight. tracks that go from breaks to techno to acid to classic house — all analog, all strictly raw!"
Strictly Raw Vol. 1 is released on Boysnoize Records on June 2.
