The details are hazy, but the action is crisp as Hemingway's prose in Korean animator and comic artist Lee Kyutae's Instagram illustrations of life in Seoul, South Korea. Faces, corporate logos, and any information used to identify a specific person all melt away in favor of glorious textures and Kyutae's obsession with light, which goes so far as to include lens flares in recent posts. Many of his drawings and short animations feature his friends and daily activities, such as playing with his cat and visiting a James Turrell-style art installation. He glides between metaphorical and literal renderings of his city with ease, just as you'd expect the mind behind the wild 2014 short filme Each Other to view the world.
