Arcade Fire Teases 'Reflektor Tapes' Doc with New Music Video

Wednesday was an exhausting and heart-wrenching 24 hours for Arcade Fire fans everywhere. Yesterday morning the band put up a website announcing their new film, The Reflektor Tapes, that featured a short trailer and selected images from the upcoming documentary. Shortly after it went up, the site was taken down and the trailer pulled from YouTube. The film’s website and trailer were then re-released after a few long hours, accompanied by a new music video for their song "Porno," which includes footage from the new movie.

Arcade Fire, a band known to push their creative output past the sonic realm, has consistently merged their music with visual art and performance, like in their collaboration with Chris Milk or their SNL concert special Here Comes The Night Time. From the production team responsible for Nick Cave’s musical docu-drama 20,000 Days on Earth and LCD Soundsystem’s Shut Up And Play The Hits and director Kahlil Joseph, whose short films and unique cinematic eye has caught the attention of artists like Flying Lotus and Kendrick Lamar, The Reflektor Tapes follows the band around the world while they record their most recent album, Reflektor. The new documentary, set to release for a limited time September 24, will be filled with in-depth personal interviews, footage captured by the band, and several cinematic concert performances.

In the movie’s press release the band is quoted saying, “There were parts of the Reflektor tour where I think we, Arcade Fire, came the closest in our careers to putting on stage what we imagined in our heads. We were insanely lucky to have Kahlil Joseph documenting from the very beginning."
