Jidenna's "Knickers" Slaps, But It Ain't About Pants

It follows the lead of "Classic Man" in wrapping a pop nugget in subversive rebellion.

The genius of Jidenna's artistry is the way he braids radical Afrocentricity into his work while keeping his tracks slick and radio ready, and his latest, a jazzy bop called "Knickers," follows the lead of "Classic Man" in wrapping a pop nugget in subversive rebellion. You find out the gag early on in the video as Jidenna and friends walk up to a club only to be greeted by a neon sign warning "No Knickers." They quickly leave and dance it out at a nearby speakeasy while Jidenna grabs the mic and kicks melodic rhymes about black upliftment that each end in "my knickers." I really like what this guy's about, and if this gets on the radio I will yelp. Watch the "Knickers" video below.
