Shura’s “Touch” Broke My Heart and Stuck it Back Together With Sellotape

"I only need you to be French with me".

The internet isn’t a competition that can be “won” or a shop that can be “shut down”, it’s just really big. Thousands of songs are uploaded to Soundcloud each day and starting now, we’re going to sort through them and present you with our favourites. This week:

A relationship is precious.

At the start it’s all giggles over unnecessarily interesting anecdotes until 6 in the morning on a weeknight but, fast-forward a non-descript period of time, everything will change. Bed will be at 11pm, the spoons will not comfortably fit together like they once did, and superfluous disagreement will be all that is known. It’s at this point you either have children or break-up.

Once either occurs – the break-up or the child - all that is left is history; a stolen emotion capable of blindsiding a human at any moment, often conjured up by something dumb like looking at a river and remembering an ex that really likes rivers and stalking their Facebook until you find all the holiday snaps of the two of you on the bank of the River Seine, back when each other’s jokes were still funny.

It’s that feel, of reaching for a once-lived but now unattainable moment, which is the sound of Shura – an artist from Shepherds Bush. It's her only song and that's fine, just take a listen above.
