Occasionally, two opposing forces come together to create something magical, which is kind of what happened when one plucky Reddit user decided to feed a load of Death Grips vocals through Microsoft Songsmith to see what happened.

If you don’t know what Microsoft Songsmith is, it’s a computer programme that allows users to match pre-recorded vocals with relentlessly cheerful music (with usually painful results). Obviously, feeding MC Ride’s chaotic, growling vocals over cheap, upbeat melodies has resulted in something intensely freaky – a mish-mash of raw punk and elevator music that was swiftly dubbed “Elevator Grips”. Ta-daaa!

The Reddit user who blessed us with this genius creation has decided to remain anonymous, so who knows? Maybe it was Death Grips themselves.

You can listen to one track from Elevator Grips below, or download the whole thing here.
