Novelist, who is from the same area, and was friends with the musician, tweeted his thoughts about what had happened: “Just last week I called telling MDOT I'm gonna bring him studio and life’s getting better. My heart man, he was just tryna live. RIP MDOT.”And then, last night, Novelist dropped a surprise instrumental “Rest in Peace [Ruff Sound Movement]” alongside the caption: “This goes out to all my dead bros. Special shout out to my young donny MDOT who just passed. Ruff Sound Movement Nationwide.” The track is a less high-energy release than his previous creations, with a brilliantly minimal, lo-fi beat and an off-kilter melody.Listen below:
