Watch Steven Seagal Teach MMA to Anderson Silva

The world may never know if Stevan Seagal is actually legit. Watch this video from 2010 and try to decide for yourself.

We love writing about Steven Seagal. The B-Movie star and 7th degree Aikido black belt has somehow kept himself in the martial arts conversation for decades, despite widespread doubts that his ninja skills translate at all to MMA.

Still, the 63-year-old actor shows up at UFC events, whispering secret moves into the ears of its top fighters. Seagal claimed he taught Anderson the front kick that stopped Vitor Belfort at UFC 126. He reportedly also helped Daniel Cormier prepare to fight Jon Jones.

In an interview with MMAFighting, Anderson Silva denied that Seagal is his coach, that he had been doing that front kick his whole life, but goes on to say that he did show him a "little movement" in the technique that improved its effectiveness.

It seems so outlandish that the king of direct-to-TV kung fu has something worthwhile to say about modern mixed martial arts, but it's just so hard to tell. We were convinced he doesn't, but while digging around for more sparring videos, we found this video of Silva and Seagal training at Blackhouse in 2010. Is Anderson Silva actually taking Sensei Seagal seriously? Is Steven Seagal paying him to pretend to take it seriously? The world may never know.
