Blondie and Garbage Will Join Forces for a Co-Headline Tour

If you're a former angry teen, and can easily get to North America, it's time to get excited.

If, like me, you were once a teenage girl who enjoyed going to rock shows where you would probably get kicked in the head, you're likely stoked on the news that Blondie (who just announced their new album Pollinator with its first single "Fun") and Garbage (whose LP Strange Little Birds dropped last year) will be heading out on a co-headline tour this summer. The "Rage and Rapture" tour will make stops in cities across North America in July and August, and will be supported in its first half by John Doe and Exene Cervenka of X, and Deap Valley for the second leg. Though the two bands are separated by the generations, their coming together feels like a spiritual inevitability, if only because both Debbie Harry and Shirley Manson are toughies who have lived on the walls of angry teens' bedrooms all over the world, seemingly since the beginning of time. This tour is homage to that, and its news will surely light a fire in the belly of girls who learned how to punch at rock shows everywhere.
