Manchester Got Together to Tell the Tories to Fuck Off

In her shaky performance on The Andrew Marr Show, Theresa May said, "We've got to listen to the electorate, listen to voters – the messages they were giving us." Well Manchester clearly has a message for you, Theresa, and it's not one you're going to like. As the Tories began their conference in the city this weekend, Mancunians held a now-traditional "unwelcoming party", as 50,000 took to the streets to say "no more austerity" and wave banners reading "Tories Out".

The conference has a ring of steel around it that makes airport security look like a League Two stadium turnstile, but at least there's a "designated protest area" for anyone who wants to continue hurling invective at random party members.

We sent VICE photographer Chris Bethell to check out the protest.
