To the delight of the intersection of the "music fans" and "chronic sea sickness sufferers" Venn diagram, news has broken this morning that Bestival will be moving from the Isle of Wight.

The festival, which will take place in 2017 between September 7 and 10, is usually the final fling in the UK's summer festival calendar, and has been held at Robin Hill Country Park on the Isle of Wight since 2004. It'll be moving to Dorset's Lulworth Estate, which is currently the base of Camp Bestival, an offshoot of the main Bestival event. Rob da Bank, who curates Bestival, used the festival's Facebook page to issue an official statement about the move this morning, stating "We can confirm we have submitted a licence application for a new site at the Lulworth Estate in Dorset and we're super excited about our shiny new Bestival adventure. We have an incredible line-up, headliners confirmed and ridiculous new stages and installations coming your way in 2017." That said, all is not lost for island folk. Bank also promised that the organisers would continue to nurture music and its growth on the Isle of Wight, with the development of a new event on the island.
