President Barack Obama's Kenyan-born half-brother Malik Obama, a Donald Trump supporter, will attend Wednesday evening's presidential debate in Las Vegas as a guest of the Republican nominee. Hillary Clinton's invited guests include two well-known Republican billionaires, Hewlett-Packard CEO Meg Whitman and Mark Cuban, owner of the Dallas Mavericks, both of whom have criticized Trump. —CNN

Half of US Adult Faces Are Now Stored in Police Databases
Half of adult American faces are stored in police databases thanks to aggressive use of facial recognition technologies, according to a new Georgetown Law School study. An estimated one in four US police departments have access to facial-recognition software. Police Shoot and Kill 66-Year-Old Woman in the Bronx
A police sergeant shot a 66-year-old woman in a Bronx apartment on Tuesday evening after the woman allegedly charged at him with a baseball bat. The officer was reportedly responding to complaints about the woman from her neighbors. An investigation has been opened into the shooting, seeking to determine why the sergeant who shot the woman did not use the stun gun he was carrying. —NBC News

US Air Force Spill 150,000 Gallons of Toxic Wastewater
The US Air Force admitted that it spilled 150,000 gallons of wastewater laced with toxic perflourinated chemicals (PFCs) into the Colorado Springs sewer system last week. ISIS Accused of Using Human Shields in Mosul
The US has accused ISIS of using civilians as human shields as Iraqi forces move closer to the militant group's stronghold in Mosul. Pentagon spokesman Navy captain Jeff Davis said, "They are being held there against their will." The UN plans to create new refugee sites outside Mosul, believing up to 200,000 people may need shelter. —BBC News

Syrian First Lady Refused Offers of Asylum
Syria's first lady Asma al Assad said she has rejected offers of safe passage and asylum in order to stay by her husband's side. Al Assad told Russian television the offers "included guarantees of safety and protection for my children and even financial security," but did not say who made the offers.—The Guardian

Hong Kong Politicians Halt Swearing In of Independence Activists
Dozens of pro-China politicians walked out of the Hong Kong legislature to prevent the swearing in of two pro-independence activists as legislators. The local government, headed by Chief Executive CY Leung, is now pursuing legal methods to have the two men, Baggio Leung and Yau Wai-ching, kicked out of office. —Al Jazeera

Saudi Prince Executed for Murder
Saudi Arabia's prince Turki bin Saud al-Kabeer has been executed for shooting a man dead in a brawl. The victim's family had refused offers of "blood money"—financial compensation in return for not demanding the death sentence. It is the first time in 40 years a member of the royal family has been executed for murder. —The New York Times

Fight Breaks Out Over Nude Hillary Clinton Statue
A naked statue of Hillary Clinton appeared in New York's Financial District, causing a commotion. Some onlookers found the statue—which depicted Clinton as having devil-like goat legs and with a banker kissing her belly—disrepsectful or sexist, and one woman argued with the artist before knocking the statue over and calling the police. Michael Moore Unveils New Trump Documentary
The documentarian screened his surprise new film, Michael Moore in TrumpLand, at the IFC Center in New York City last night. The 73-minute long movie is the filmed version of Moore's recent one-man lecture show about Donald Trump. —Variety

The Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation said that it is fully cooperating with a federal investigation into whether The Wolf of Wall Street was partially funded through laundered money from Malaysia. The actor helped produce the 2013 movie. —TIME
