There Will Be "Space Oddity" 3D Karaoke At TRANSFER Gallery Tomorrow

Legendary net artist, G.H. Hovagimyan, is exhibiting "((ANA)chronisms++)" on Feb. 1st

There might actually be David Bowie singalongs at TRANSFER Gallery tomorrow, though we're not sure if there's free booze. Regardless, the Brooklyn art space is deeping its roots in the digital arts exhibition game by highlighting renowned net artist G.H. Hovagimyan in an exhibition with the amazing title, ((ANA)chronisms++). The opening reception will be followed by a 3D Karaoke party, so if you're not in it for the art, you can be in it for the duets (maybe Hovagimyan will join in).

Hovagimyan doesn't have a distinct medium, but is recognized for experimental projects using hypertext, digital performance art, interactive installations, and HD video. Not only has heen exhibited at the MoMA, Whitney, New Museum, Lincoln Center, and Pompidou, but his work (like the aforementioned Space Oddity 3D Kareoke) have set precedents in the net art community.

"Working with GH is an honor," Kelani Nichole, co-director of TRANSFER told us. "His early writing and ongoing work in net art are an important part of the rich history of the canon."

((ANA)chronisms + +) is a past and present exploration of Hovagimyan's artistic practices. His creativity is known for being accentuated with a combination of new and old technologies, including augmented reality paintings with post-browser interfaces, projection mapping on antique furniture, and old-fashioned, portable radios modified with Mp3 chips.

His work will be open to the public every Saturday this February, so if you're not keen on karaoke, you still have a chance to see his amazing work. We're re-listening to some Bowie now in preparation, though… See you there!
