Listen to Wiley’s Farewell to Grime Album, “The Godfather”

The Godfather of the genre makes a triumphant return, perhaps for the last time.

It's true that Wiley has threatened to retire before. But of all his records, The Godfather feels the most like a farewell – a final statement, a reminder of the legacy that he is leaving behind, the closing chapter from a trailblazing MC who is kind of the reason for the entire grime scene existing in the way it does. With features from some of the grime world's biggest and most influential players – including the ever present Jme and Skepta – as well as respected veterans like Lethal Bizzle and P Money, it's a fitting goodbye to a genre he helped create. And with plans to continue working in the scene via his label Chasing the Art, there's still surely much to come from Wiley, but for now it's enough to sit back and listen to a master at work.
