Curt Schilling Defends Donald Trump's Comments on Ten-Year-Old Girl

How is Curt Schilling still on television?

Yesterday, CBS uncovered a video of Donald Trump saying of a ten-year-old girl that "I'll be dating her in ten years, can you believe that?" The very best anyone could say about that clip is that it yet again shows Trump being a gross weirdo, the kind of person who thinks he can impress people by commenting on the current attractiveness of a ten-year-old child, and extrapolating that ten years into the future. She'll be a hot 20-year-old. Hot enough for me to date. That, again, is an interpretation of the clip in the light most favorable to Donald Trump. That, I believe, is what Curt Schilling was trying to say here, and shock of shocks, the former MLB pitcher who posts racist memes on Facebook had a tough time verbalizing his argument.

What the Schilldog did manage to do was ask Fox Business's Trish Regan if she's ever looked upon a young boy and thought to herself that maybe she'd like to date that young boy in a decade. A partial transcript:

Schilling: How many times have you looked at a young man and said, 'Wow, he's a beautiful young man, wow he's a gorgeous young man' and that man was 12, 13, 14, 15?

Regan: I'll be honest, Curt, zero.

Schilling: See, that's a lie. There's no way you haven't seen someone else's son and said, "Wow, he's beautiful, wow…."

Regan: And thought I'm gonna be dating him in ten years? No. Sorry. You're on your own on this one.

Schilling: No, I'm not on my own on this one!

Schilling then accuses "the left" of jumping from Trump saying that he would date a ten-year-old ten years in the future to Trump would molest a ten-year-old. Which, of course, no one has done. All anyone has done is point out, as Regan did to Schilling, that Trump habitually says gross, offensive, and dangerously stupid things (not to mention the multiple allegations in the past 24 hours that Trump's offenses go beyond just "locker room talk," as he charmingly puts it) and maybe he shouldn't be President because of it. In fact, the worst anyone has said about that Trump clip, really, has been some old guy in a football jersey and baseball cap angrily making the case on FOX that Donald Trump's leering is actually not that big of a deal.
