Listen to a Run the Jewels Demo of Extremely Hard "Panther Like a Panther"

Now everyone who didn't line up for ages can enjoy the Record Store Day cut.

To celebrate Record Store Day, Run the Jewels made available a special edition tote bag (yeah, I'm not sure either). If you bought the tote bag, you were also given the opportunity to get a free download of the full version of "Panther Like a Panther," a new track from the duo, which premiered in part last year via the trailer for the video game Gears of War 4.

And now RTJ are sharing the love, as the original version of the track is now out in the world for all to hear – play it above – after its recent debut on the group's Beats 1 show WRTJ. "Panther Like a Panther" sees Killer Mike and El-P on blistering form as usual, spitting quick flows over the sparse but funky beat.

It's certainly a welcome Easter egg for the fans who didn't manage to get hold of one of the 2500 RTJ tote bags on Record Store Day (seriously how do they sleep at night?) but it does also provoke a bit of a raised eyebrow in the direction of the initiative. If groups are just going to release Record Store Day "exclusives" a few weeks later, it does raise a question mark over the event's clout, suggesting that due to changes in the music industry (the advent of streaming. I'm talking about the advent of streaming), it might not carry the heft that it once did.
