Alex Ovechkin Mixing Up the Words 'Shit' and 'Shot' Is Wonderful

Ovechkin tripping up on his words turned into a glorious postgame scrum.

Alex Ovechkin's postgame scrum Sunday was full of shit.

Following a 4-3 win over the Blues, Ovechkin attempted to break down the Capitals' recent prowess on the powerplay, where he buried his 27th tally of the season to briefly pull ahead of fellow Russian net-assassin Nikita Kucherov for the NHL's goal-scoring lead.

The only problem with his analysis? Accidentally and hilariously subbing out the "O" for an "I" in a certain four-letter word.

"I think we just simplified our game," Ovechkin said before crediting TJ Oshie with a faceoff win and explaining his own goal on the PP. "I had a chance to shit, I shit…" We're not entirely sure if he said "shit" or "shot" or "shoot" next, but it's a whole lot funnier if it was the poop word. We'll choose to believe he said "I took a shit"—either way, Ovi showed off his delightful sense of humour once he realized his linguistic misstep.

He chuckled along with the reporters, stuck out his tongue, and said, "Whatever. Shoot, shit."

When you're sniping at a pace as torrid as the Russian-born Ovechkin, who does speak English well, you can afford to drop a few shit-bombs in a post-gamer every now and then. At age 32, Ovi is on pace to once again reach the 50-goal mark. He's netted at least 50 tallies in seven of his first 11 full NHL seasons, and has won the Rocket Richard Trophy as the NHL's leading goal-scorer an absurd six times already.

Ovechkin is still the best pure goal-scorer in the world, and it will likely take a lot more than a little bit of shit to slow this dude down.
