What We Know So Far About Kanye West's New Album Listening Party in the Wilderness

Kanye West’s new album Ye is in a weird state of limbo—it isn’t out, but it was debuted to the world via a livestream from Wyoming. (Jackson Hole, Wyoming! Known for its rich history of hip-hop and rap!).

Details are still sparse but we've gleaned that guests included Pusha T, Jonah Hill, Candance Owens, Kid Cudi, Chris Rock and others.

According to Variety, Rock introduced the event at a grassy field illuminated by possibly a hundred camera lights and a campfire. “Hip-hop music is the first art form created by free black men,” he said, “And no black man has taken advantage of his freedom more than Kanye West. … Listen without prejudice. I can’t wait to watch you experience [it].”

From the clips floating online, parts of it clearly bop.

We can't swear they'll all be there, as they keep getting taken down.

West is many things but he’s not a slackass, yet everything about this sounds pretty… make it up as you go along.

Response to the album has been mixed, but the songs (eight so far) seem to touch upon all of West’s recent tweets, so now we know what his artistic process is like. And the lyrics at least are a throwback to the old Kanye. On one track, he references comments he made about slavery during the TMZ appearance: “They said build your own, I said, ‘How, Sway? I said slavery’s a choice, they said, ‘How, Ye? Just imagine if they caught me on a wild day.”

The album hasn't appeared on any streaming services so far and our local bootlegger doesn't seem to have it, so we'll have to wait and see if this album is enough to uncancel Ye or if his new MAGA fans will still stand by him.
