Looks Like Daniel Craig Will Play James Bond Again

A new James Bond movie will hit theaters in 2019, with Daniel Craig set to reprise his role as the dashing British spy, the New York Times reports—a role he once said he'd rather "slash [his] wrists" than play again.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Eon Productions, the UK company that controls the Bond name, released a joint statement Monday detailing the film's November '19 release, which will be penned by long-time Bond screenwriters Neal Purvis and Robert Wade (the pair who inexplicably wrote both the brain-bleedingly bad Die Another Day and the brilliant Casino Royale back-to-back).

Although the official news doesn't mention Craig's involvement, and BBC reports that no contracts have been signed, sources close to the film told the Times that Daniel Craig as Bond is a "done deal."

Back in 2015, fresh of the heels of filming the last Bond film, Spectre, Craig famously told Time Out that he was "over it" and wouldn't play the spy again, and that he didn't "give a fuck" who was the next 007. He also said that if he did come back for another movie, "it would only be for the money."

He later walked back on the comments, saying that he was pissed after a long shoot when he talked to Time Out and that he'd "miss [playing Bond] terribly" if he quit.

If the Times's sources are correct, and Craig is actually coming back, it means we'll have to keep waiting for our chance to see how suave an Idris Elba Bond would be—but there are rumors that Cara Delevingne will play a badass spy alongside Craig in this next movie, so there's that.
