In September, Madonna and VICE launched Art for Freedom, a global digital initiative campaign designed to fuel free speech—to respond, address and protest persecution and discrimination around the world. Each day we feature an artwork that speaks to human rights; each month Madonna donates $10,000 to a non-profit organization of one feature artist's choice.
The winner for November, announced on Friday, is Amber Fares for Speed Sisters, a film she is making about the Middle East's first all-women motor racing team, which has come together in the occupied West Bank:
Art for Freedom launched in September 2013 with guerrilla screenings of Madonna and Steven Klein’s 17-minute film secretprojectrevolution in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, London, Berlin, Toronto, Rome, Paris, Jericho, Rio de Janeiro, and Tel Aviv.
To get involved, submit your artwork to the Art for Freedom website and/or by tagging your social posts with #artforfreedom.
