A College Student Reported Missing Actually Just Moved to Brooklyn

She apparently didn't want to go to school anymore.

After being seen at a dorm party on May 5, 19-year-old Columbia University sophomore Nayla Kidd deactivated Facebook, closed her bank account, canceled her cell phone, and disappeared. For the next two weeks, Columbia, the NYPD, and Kidd's family set off in search of her, confused and fearing the worst.

Now, in what would appear to be one of the best possible outcomes for this mystery, the New York Daily News reports Kidd is "safe and sound," and living in East Williamsburg, Brooklyn. She apparently moved into the new home and dipped from school to "get away from it all."

"She rented a place in Brooklyn," a cop told the tabloid. "She didn't want to be at school anymore."

On Monday night, Columbia blasted a university-wide email announcing Kidd, who's originally from Louisville, Kentucky, is OK. A post on the "Finding Nayla" Facebook page confirmed the news and asked that everyone "please respect Nayla and her family's privacy."
