Ever wondered what iconic 80s band New Order would taste like in a beer?Wonder no more: post-punk now comes in a pint glass, apparently. The Manchester band has just announced a new partnership with Moorhouse's Brewery in Burnley, Lancashire and will be releasing its first ale in September.
According to a statement on the band's website, the ale is "a refreshing and clean tasting golden ale with hints of citrus fruit and lychee, all balanced by a subtle bitterness."

The band has christened its new ale "Stray Dog," after a track from the 2015 album Music Complete. Well, the song does contain the lyrics: "But I can't stop drinking, it's in my blood."Bernard Sumner and co. aren't the first musicians to make a foray into the drinks world. Last year, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem opened a wine bar in Brooklyn and bands as diverse as Iron Maiden and Super Furry Animals have also tried their hands at beer production.
Commenting on the choice of brewery for their new ale, New Order pointed to ties with the North West, where the band was formed in its original incarnation as Joy Division. The press statement read: "It's been a pleasure to work with Moorhouse's of Burnley on our first foray into the brewing business. Even more so that they're celebrating their 150th anniversary, and have such a rich heritage in the North West."Watch this space for a "Ceremony" cider and "Bizarre Love Triangle" bitter.
