Deadmau5 remains as outspoken as ever.

In a short, but informative new interview with Rolling Stone, the producer spoke about his new album, W:/2016ALBUM/, his recent move to the Canadian countryside, EDM, and his feelings on Marshmello.

"Let's fucking clear the air on this one. I don't care if you're wearing a fucking helmet, I don't give a shit – with that logic, I ripped off Daft Punk," deadmau5, aka Joel Zimmerman, said about the rising producer Marshmello. "The thing that pissed me off after awhile was the constant dick riding [on Twitter]."

Deadmau5 was critical of the perception on social media that all he does, "is sit around and burn pictures of this guy."

The producer also addressed comments he made in 2014 to the Evening Standard about the state of EDM. "Disco had a longer run than EDM has, to be honest about it, and that died in a fucking hurry," he told the newspaper. "EDM is way more susceptible because that was in a time when they didn't have mass social media and all that shit. It's not gonna be me saying, 'OK, EDM's done', and the whole thing falls apart, but I think it'll eventually fuck itself so hard."

In his new Rolling Stone interview, the producer said it already ruined itself in 2015. "It's out of the innovators' hands; it's not really grassroots anymore," he told the magazine. "I'm partially responsible – I've done my part to commercialize shit. Oversaturation."
