All Black Boozed: Dan Carter Caught Drink Driving in Paris (UPDATED)

L'Equipe​ reported that Carter had a blood alcohol level of 0.98g per litre. The French limit is 0.50g per litre.

UPDATED (12.30pm NZT): Legendary former All Black Dan Carter has been caught drink driving in Paris.

The 112-test first-five, who plays for French rugby club Racing Metro 92, was stopped by police near the Champs-Elysees late Wednesday night in France (late Thursday morning NZT) according to Closer magazine, who had their reportage backed up by L'Equipe.

L'Equipe reported that Carter, who was without his driver license, had a blood alcohol level of 0.98g per litre. The French limit is 0.50g per litre.

Carter confirmed the incident on Facebook around midday today.

French media have reported that Carter's car was impounded and that the 34-year-old will appear in court for the misdemeanor.

Last year, Carter was involved in a doping scandal, when he and two Racing team mates were found with corticosteroids in their urine samples.Carter signed the most expensive contract in rugby history when he linked up with Racing Metro 92 in 2015. His contract is understood to be worth around NZ$2 million per season.
