Your Aesthetic Will Never Be As On-Point As Ray BLK's in This "My Hood" Performance

"Millennial pink" strikes again.

Sometimes, all you need to create greatness is a voice, a song, and a room painted baby pink. That seems to be the formula employed by Ray BLK in this new video for Berlin's COLORS (which essentially takes artists, puts them in different – but, weirdly, appropriately coloured – rooms, and has them perform their tracks). This one features her busting out a note-perfect version of one of her best-loved tracks, "My Hood," in a room that I wish was my bedroom, wearing the most enviable double denim I have ever seen in my life (side note: if anyone would like to send me these jeans I am ready and waiting).

After a banner 2016, which saw Ray release a mini-album, Durt, from which "My Hood" is taken, 2017 is shaping up to be a good year. With a debut album in the pipeline (no official details have been released yet but she told NME back in February that she's hoping for it to include "timeless, classic songs of female empowerment") and a BBC Sound of 2017 poll win in her back pocket, the world is very much at Ray BLK's feet. It's clips like this, where her vocals, firm south London identity and deft skill as a songwriter and storyteller do the talking that remind us why.

Lauren is not joking, she really wants a pair of these jeans and will be whinging about it on Twitter.
