Tim Tebow Reported to Be Cut from The Eagles

The Eagles are losing their religion.

Former Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow was rejected by yet another NFL team after not making Philadelphia Eagles' 53-man roster, sources tell ESPN. With news just yesterday that Tebow's competition Matt Barkley was traded to the Cardinals, it seemed that Tebow's hopes were afloat. But head coach Chip Kelly apparently had other plans.

After a fairly confusing preseason performance, Tebow predictably fell to favorites Sam Bradford and Mark Sanchez for the number one and two spots. What wasn't expected was the removal of a third spot entirely. With Kelly running four quarterbacks this preseason, it seemed he was set on cutting only one, but Barkley and Tebow's sendoffs indicate that if he's holding out for a third, it's not happening quite yet.

Tebow has a slight chance of making a comeback after other teams finalize their 53-man rosters, but with his 58.6 percent passing completion rate this preseason (USA Today)—which would have put him at 29th of 33 players last year—it'll be a bit of an uphill battle.

Given that Tebow had a fairly warm reception as an analyst after his unsigned free agency last year, it seems that chinstrap-or-not, he might be sticking with football for a good minute longer.
