A Woman Stabbed Her Husband for Putting Chili Powder in Tacos

When the man’s wife found out that the tacos contained chili powder, a popular component of taco seasoning, she “freaked out,” according to a criminal complaint.

Taco night should be all about good vibes, but we know that things can sometimes get really out of hand. (Remember, earlier this month, a Zoolander-esque hot-oil fight broke out at a Taco Bell.)

Keeping that streak going, things got really heated (pun intended) over some tacos down in New Mexico recently, when a woman allegedly stabbed her husband in the chest during a fight about beef seasoning.

It started off as a normal taco night. According to KOB4, a local man invited a friend over to make tacos for dinner—a very solid friend move. Like most at-home taco chefs, the friend dumped a packet of taco seasoning in along with the taco meat. It would be a fateful action.

When the man's wife, one Jorah Stern, found out that the tacos contained chili powder, a popular component of taco seasoning, she "freaked out," according to a criminal complaint. She's allergic to chili powder, and she accused her husband of intentionally including chili powder in the taco meat as a means of low-key poisoning her.

Stern's husband "explained to her that he was not cooking dinner and that he did not have control over what his friend made," according to the complaint, but she wasn't having it, and the fight continued to escalate. Stern's husband left the house to let things simmer down.

But when he came back the next day, tempers were still fiery (unlike chili-powder-free tacos). Stern continued to accuse her husband of trying to harm her, and she grabbed a ten-inch knife and began brandishing it at her husband. He told her to go ahead and just stab him if she wanted him dead, and, lo and behold, she then stabbed him in his upper chest.

This isn't the only Mexican-food-related domestic abuse stabbing in recent memory. Back in March, a Florida woman hit her husband in the head with a half-eaten Taco Bell Burrito Supreme (what a waste), and her husband retaliated by stabbing her in the hand with a fork. The fork was so deeply embedded in the woman's hand that doctors had to remove it.

Back in New Mexico, Stern has been charged with domestic violence and aggravated assault. Her husband's condition is unclear.

What is clear is that taco night will never be the same at the Stern household.
