Iowa State Broke Kansas' 51 Home Game Win Streak in Overtime Upset

Hopefully, the No. 2 Jayhawks' upset to unranked Iowa State was just a little preview of what's to come next month. Because that was fun.

Kansas University's mighty Allen Fieldhouse is no longer sacred ground. For the first time in 51 games, the Jawhawks fell to an opponent at home—this time, at the hands of Iowa State in an overtime thriller.

Iowa State's Deonte Burton was the hero on the day, racking up 29 points with a whopping seven 3-pointers—the last of which gave the Cyclones some padding in overtime. Not for nothing, Kansas did their best to dig in after tying the game up at 82 points at the end of regulation. Jayhawks' Frank Mason III scored a career-high 32 points, and Devonte Graham hit a clutch 3-pointer with 10 seconds left, giving Kansas a last-gasp hope of tying up in extra time.

But after Kansas fouled Iowa State, Monte Morris—who had 25 on the night—delivered two from the line, keeping the margin at a difficult three. Jayhawks' Svi Mykhailiuk botched a long 3-pointer at the buzzer, and the fate was sealed. Hopefully, the No. 2 (or 3) Jayhawks' upset to unranked Iowa State was just a little preview of what's to come next month. Because that was fun.
