The upcoming Han Solo origin film wrapped principal photography on Tuesday. To celebrate, the film's new director Ron Howard took to Twitter to announce the long-awaited official title for the Young Han Solo movie—and it's even worse than The Young Han Solo Movie.According to Howard, the movie will be called Solo: A Star Wars Story.The whole "Star Wars Story" thing is just tacked on there to differentiate this standalone movie from the standard Skywalker saga, like they did with Rogue One. So really, the movie is just called Solo. That's it, just Solo.Sure, the movie title is simple and direct and likely won't trick people into thinking they're going to see a red cup documentary or whatever. But Solo has been plagued with difficulties from the beginning—the film's original directors, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, were ousted and replaced by Howard five months into production—and the flat title doesn't really bolster expectations.Still, there's plenty to be hopeful for. The film stars Hail, Caesar's breakout actor Alden Ehrenreich as Solo and Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, with a supporting cast that features everybody from Woody Harrelson to Thandie Newton to Emilia Clarke. And the film was co-written by Empire Strikes Back and Force Awakens screenwriting genius Lawrence Kasdan, so we'll at least get to see Han and Lando's early history penned by the guy who brought the pair together in the first place.Solo isn't exactly a brilliant name, but it could have been worse—the movie could have been titled something like Against All Odds: The Han Solo Story or The Wookie Makes Three or How the Falcon Was Won or The Great Kessel Run or whatever—so we should probably be thankful all we got stuck with was Solo.Solo: A Star Wars Story is scheduled to land in theaters on May 25, 2018, but we'll have The Last Jedi to keep us occupied until then.
