Spinning on an invisible axis gaining speed and complexity per each 180º rotation, a dance video and art performance combination experiments with the shapes of the human body. With ritualistic undertones, and sleek costume design, Clark's "Peak Magnetic" features two dancers, clad in full-body suits and headgear reminiscent of wardrobe from Hulu's The Handmaid's Tale. The video is a visual incarnate of British producer and electronic artist, Chris Clark' somersaulting track from the album Death Peak.In the video's action sequences, two female performers face off against each other, flailing their limbs one second, then standing in stoic resolution the next. The highlight of Peak Magnetic are the puzzling patterns the dancers trace upon the floor, which is covered in a sand-like sediment. It's these circular shapes that turn into spiky peaks, hinting at a cause-and-effect happening across dimension lines.
Peak Magnetic is directed by Berlin-based visual artist and director, Sander Houtkruijer, the choreography is designed by Melanie Lane and Kiani De Valle.
