Gabe 'Nandez' Video for "Something" Showcases Montreal's Grit and Glam

'Nandez is either playing chess with your girl in his penthouse or trapping in the cut.

Gabe 'Nandez is riding around in a Mercedes G Class, relaxing in his penthouse, or mobbing in the cut with his crew in his new music video for "Something," a song off his upcoming album Diplomacy. The Montreal rapper by way of New York uses the song's muddy bass and spastic snares to propel voice and penetrate your eardrums with his sharply expressed feelings about the music industry and his perceived peers. By combining both lifestyles of luxury rap and it's grimy underground counterpart, the two schools of thought collide with plenty of fireworks.

With quick shots that alternate between murky low res alleyways to sharp clean shots of Gabe in his penthouse, the contrasting scenes give the video a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde feel. "'Something' is a song I wrote that touches upon the politics of the music industry," explains 'Nandez in an email. "It’s a kind of chant against a lot of the gimmicks that I see going on in the rap game."
