Style Rider: Elliphant's Style Is as Offbeat as Her Sound

Ellinor Olovsdotter, a Stockholm-bred rapper who looks like a Swedish supermodel and records under the name Elliphant, dropped her latest EP a few weeks ago. Like her previous releases, it's filled with dance-inflected hip-hop jams that sound like M.I.A. meets Robyn. But One More, featuring her single of the same name, might be what finally puts her on the map on this side of the world. Well, that and the fact she's currently touring with Charli XCX, recording with Dr. Luke, and collaborating with Skrillex.

Her style is as offbeat as her sound. She's big into braided pigtails and backwards baseball hats, and tends to stick with #athleisure gear on stage—sports bras, leggings, a whole lot of track jackets—with a pretty enviable supply of colorful sneakers. Her love of leisurewear runs deep: In the music video for "One More," featuring fellow Swede MØ, they wear watching Adidas track jackets and light-up soccer sandals. It is, obviously, awesome.

In between stops, we stole a minute with Elliphant to find out what she brings along on tour, aside from sneakers and sportswear, and she did not disappoint. Now if we could just get our hands on a lighter necklace…

"I have this amazing…no, I mean I had this amazing fake fur hat that's been my loyal companion on all these tours because it not only covers you up and makes you feel invisible it's also a really good pillow and it makes people happy. It's the perfect traveling hat. If you've seen my hat I'd really love to get it back. It's lost in Canada or somewhere."

"A pair of good black sunglasses can be used in so many ways. Like 6am in the morning on your way to the airport or on your way in for sound check and you're not yet ready to meet people's eyes. When traveling as an artist a small thing as eye contact can take so much power. Sunglasses are an easy pick."

"Pen and paper is my meditation. I used pen and paper before I knew how to speak. It's always important to filter your emotions somehow and pen and paper has always been my filter."
