The Avalanches will return to the stage for Splendour in the Grass on a lineup that includes The Cure, The Strokes, a reunited At The Drive In, James Blake, Sigur Ros, Leon Bridges and The Kills.

The three day music festival held on the 660-acre North Byron Parklands in July will also host Australian acts Flume, Courtney Barnett, Violent Soho, and DMA's.

While the Avalanches are still at work on the follow-up to their classic 2000 album Since I Left You, only days ago the group updated their social media accounts and website and earlier this morning Tweeted their upcoming dates for 2016

Founding member Darren Seltmann departed the band last year, and remaining members of the group inlcude Robbie Chater, Tony Di Blasi, and James De La Cruz.

It’s been a 16-years since the release of the influential Since I Left You, and it’s sample-based collage pop, and while there have been persistent rumours of new material, there's still no real news as to when the new album will surface.

Hopefully new shows point to a sign of a new album.

June 5 - Barcelona, Spain at Primavera Sound
