Berlin-based producer Draveng has announced that he'll follow up 2014's The Dubious Smink EP on Physical Therapy's Allergy Season imprint with a new record for the label arm of Warsaw-based club night Brutaż. THUMP is very excited to share a first listen from Brutaż-02 in "Caterwauler," which sees the artist set aside the wonky, pile-driving aesthetic of his techno variations for a moment to investigate a spookily beatless palate. Revolving around what sounds like a sample of howling wolves from a 90s CD-ROM game, this track is a more straightforward disgusting kind of "noise" than most of the artist's material, while still dabbling in familiar forms of psychedelic heaviness.
"Ululation embodies the calm before the storm in the humanitarian protest of the frenetic wallower," the artist said to THUMP about the track via email. "The deepest cuts arise from precise and sustained annunciation of the churning intonation of a conscious beast's guts."
Brutaż-02 will be out this September, exact date TBD, and vinyl-only. It was mastered by Tim Xavier at Manmade.
