As one of the co-founders and producers for Lisbon-based outfit Buraka Som Sistema, he's synthesizes baile funk, kuduro, UK hardcore, tropical rave and Baltimore club into music that makes the dancefloor go ham. Championed by the likes of Diplo, Santigold, Switch and M.I.A.—who Buraka have also collaborated with—their wild live show is legendary, having blown up stages from Coachella to Sónar. Plus, João heads up the Enchufada label, which releases everyone from Schlachthofbronx to Toy Selectah to Luanda's DJ Znobia.
