Jacoby Brissett Ends Heartfelt Thank You Note to Obama By Offering to Help Him "With Your Broke Jump Shot"

Brissett wrote a heartfelt note to the former president on the occasion of the Patriots White House visit. Then dissed his jump shot.

A patchwork version of the New England Patriots visited Trump's White House on Wednesday, and while Tom Brady was absent, third-string backup Jacoby Brissett was on hand to take it all in. And it seems like he had a great time! Notably, he didn't share any social media pics of him and Donald Trump roaming the grounds, but he did take the time to shout out a president he does admire: Barack Obama. While Brissett's affection for Obama is certainly of note, what I want to draw attention to here is the end of Brissett's Instagram post, where he finishes by saying, "P.S Holla at me to help you with your broke jump shot."

And don't get me wrong—I'm not trying to draw your attention away from Brissett's pretty spectacular thank you note. It goes through peaks and valleys, employs inspiring (if prepackaged) maxims, talks about a more-promising future for black children, subtly criticizes people in a position of white authority as being permissive of black success only within the framework of sports, and acknowledges the responsibility of the famous. It also offers the coy conceit that a framed photo of a barely visible Obama is more important to him than standing next to Trump in the (orange) flesh.

"As I prepare for the honor of visiting the White House, I will be there as a Super Bowl Champion – and I will think of you, mainly because the White House is a different, and better place because you lived there," Brisset writes. Now, that's a great bit of positive shade being thrown.

But let's get to the end again, because Brissett makes sure to add this wonderful little post script—after an inspiring Oprah quote, mind you—that tells Barack Obama that his jump shot is garbage. After all that love! And it's not like he thinks Obama will take that lightly. Pretty much all photos of Obama exercising are of him hooping. But maybe that's the point. Maybe Brisset thinks that shit talk will actually open a gateway to getting to ball with Obama—and Richard Branson, or whoever Obama is hanging out with.
